The Johnson County Detention Center is a county-run institution in Cleburne, Texas, located south of Dallas. The structure has been converted from a Johnson County jail to an immigrant detention facility. Unauthorized immigrants who have been detained for unlawfully entering the United States or for staying in the nation without necessary documentation may find themselves in the Johnson County Detention Center.
Detention centers are a means for the government to assure that non-citizens will appear in front of an immigration court. When a non-citizen commits a crime, misses hearing dates, is caught entering the United States unlawfully, or has overstayed their visa, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detains them. If you find yourself in the Johnson County Detention Center, regardless of the scenario, you should promptly seek the assistance of an expert immigration attorney.
