Prairieland Detention Center
1209 Sunflower Ln
Alvarado, TX 76009

The Prairieland Detention Center (PDC) in Alvarado, Texas, is a privately run ICE detention center situated over 40 miles southwest of Dallas. The prison can hold 707 inmates, with an average of 688 detainees per day in 2018. Over 11,000 inmates were detained at the facility last year, and given the present state of immigration enforcement, that figure is sure to rise in 2019.

Detainees at this and other ICE facilities frequently confront the legal process alone, either because they are unaware of their rights or because they believe there is nothing they can do to improve their situation. If you or a loved one has been held in this or any other ICE institution, you should seek expert legal assistance immediately. Specialists in immigration law can help you or a family member navigate the immigration court system effectively.
